| Acting as the aortas in the development of national economy, Highways are the basic facilities of transportation systems. As the result of the development of Zhejiang's economy with a high rate, a huge and ordered expressway network is required urgently. Since Zhejiang Province's terrain is very complex, the information management of tunnels for highways is especially important for Zhejiang Province's highway network. The constant increase of the amount of long tunnels, tunnel webs and the higher ratio of tunnels in all highway system are the characteristic of the highway tunnel construction in Zhejiang Province. Therefore it is important to develop the GIS-based highway tunnel information management system, for the management of tunnel information efficiently, normatively and intellectively.After analyzing business requirements, Zhejiang Highway Tunnels Information Management System based on the platform of Windows 2000 Server + Microsoft SQL Server by the GIS technique have been developed according to the tri-layer BWD structure of BIS mode. Part functions for the roles of system technical personnel are implemented by the mode of CIS, such as managing the basic data base and user's authority. Using the MapInfo Professional as the development tool of GIS, as well as the MapXtreme Server as the platform to release the WebPages of GIS. The proposed system can create dynamic electronic maps according to the information in Basic highway tunnel information Database and the Basic geography information management system. The system realizes the visualized output of the analysis results of highway tunnel information, thus dynamically reflecting the highway tunnel situation through out the province in time.As the result of our project, the system has some advantages than traditional manual management, such as quickly retrieval, convenient search. It provides some functions for highway business management with timely, exact, comprehensive information about highway tunnels, as well as various statistical analysis, maps and report forms of highway tunnel information. The proposed system is validated to Zhejiang Province's highway management by providing efficient measures for the management of highway tunnels and scientific basis for decision-making. |
