Wireless self-organized network is a multi-hop temporary autonomous system of mobile nodes equipped with wireless transceivers and receivers. As a special wireless network without any fixed network infrastructure, it has extensive application prospect in military and civilian field. It has been a research focus in current network research. As one of the core technique of wireless self-organized network, routing protocol still has some issue needing to resolve as to now, and new applications also raise many new challenges ceaselessly to the research of it.Based on NSFC project of "Research on task assignment policies and implementation mechanisms in wireless sensor network", this thesis focuses on the research of routing protocols for two kinds of wireless self-organized network: Mobile Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks. The main contents include:1. Research of routing overhead for mobile ad hoc networks. Routing overhead is the top-priority factor in routing protocol designing for wireless communication networks which have low transmission bandwidth. The routing overhead mechanism of ad hoc networks was analyzed and the optimization techniques of routing overhead were studied. Also, the impact of MAC protocol, node density, traffic and node mobility speed on routing overhead were studied by simulations.2. A routing overhead analysis model for ad hoc networks was proposed. Broadcast overhead and unicast overhead of on-demand routing protocol and proactive routing protocol were modeled respectively which adopts the way analogous to complexity analysis. The model takes the main impact factors, such as node mobility, traffic, broadcast optimization, in account and it reflect the routing mechanism, and so it has reference to the design of new protocols and the performance evaluation of existing protocols.3. Study of QoS routing protocols for wireless sensor networks. How to provide the QoS support in wireless sensor networks which has scarce resource is a new research focus and difficulty. The QoS mechanism, characteristic of 12 typical QoS routing protocols were studied, compared and classified, and also the future research strategies and trends are summarized.4. An application example of query system was designed which based on TinyOS operating system and MACA2 sensor nodes. In the system, the query information was sent to the Sink nodes by a cluster routing protocol, and finally displayed on the three different display devices.
