Objective of the study is to be designing a series of antennas, which work from 0.5GHz to 4GHz, for near field antenna test platform in anechoic chamber, and demanding the return loss of these antennas to be less than -10dB (VSWR ≤ 2) in the frequece bandwidth, the maximum gain in each frequence to be more than 3dB, and the half-power lobe width in each frequence to be more than 60°. Considering structure of the near field antenna test platform, here adopt broadband microstrip antenna, which has a smaller structure, to actualize the objective. So in the whole study, beginning with basic electromagnetic theory of microstrip antenna, deeply research analytical methods and structure of broadband microstrip antenna, then design a series of antennas according as the above index by using MATLAB and Ansoft HFSS (High Frequence Structure Simulator). Finally, measure the practical designed antennas by far field antenna test platform in anechoic chamber, and find the measured data is very conformable to the simulated data. The major arrangement of this paper is as follows:Firstly, particularly introduce basic electromagnetic theory of microstrip antenna, which contains definition, structure, excellence, shortcoming, usefulness, radiated theory and feeding methods etc. of microstrip antenna.Secondly, Using MATLAB and HFSS to deeply research three types of analytical method for microstrip antenna which are transmission line method, cavity mode theory and finite-element method.Thirdly, research and discuss three different structures of broadband microstrip antennas by MATLAB and HFSS.Fourthly, design three microstrip antennas with ridge-shaped ground plate which separately work from 0.5GHz to 1GHz, from 1GHz to 2GHz and from 2GHz to 4GHz. And design a Vivaldi wide slot microstrip antenna which works from 0.5GHz to 4GHz. In the whole designing process, it is beginning with designing a basic structure corresponding to the microstrip antenna which you want to design, then improve the basic structure to spread out frequence bandwidth of the microstrip antenna according as correlative theory and arithmetic, and finally confirm dimensions of the microstrip...
