.3 G Core Network Performance Management, Data Collection Methods

Performance management is one of the five major management functions of TMN. Its purpose is watching the performance of the network and equipment, evaluating the validity of network, supporting layout and analyse of the network.Currently, the 3G mobile network is a hotspot. The characteristic of the 3G mobile network is excessive equipments, protocols and interfaces. Traditional interface can't meet telecom network management's requirement any more.Most of 3G mobile network management do not have interface to collect the performance data of different equipment .The combination of J2EE technology and TMN shows a way to solve this problem.This paper bases on the 3G mobile network management software of ZTE, mainly works at following aspects:1. analyzing and researching the function of performance management; defining the three elements of task of performance management,giving the archirecture of performance management software of 3G mobile network;2. discussing the function of performance management and the interrelated Classes by UML, giving a method of network element communications system, defining the statistics of communications system by XML files;3. giving four statistics of the agent processes which work on the network elements, and defining the transformation rule,designing arithmetic of data-collecting and data- transmiting;4. designing tables of database which is used to store the performance data collected;5. testing and analyzing the system, and expecting the future works.This paper bases on working experience, and has a good value on design and application of performance management of telecom network.
