With the development of the society, the traditional world markets have become more and more flexible to adapt the need of the contemporary markets, which have being changed rapidly. Enterprises are searching for new techniques and new working procedures that can improve the quality of products and shorten the developing periods. The rapid development of Computer and Information techniques has become an important factor of promoting the world economy. While it is the only way of developing modern manufacturing to reconstruct traditional manufacturing through putting the technology into manufacturing, and Virtual Manufacturing is one of the key technology, which can shorten the developing periods of the product, improve the successful rate of the design and the manufacture, and therefore adapt the need of rapidly reactive markets.Two-boom vertical coil clamp which has complex structure and working process easy arises unexpected accidents. So it's of vital importance that designed clamps can be persistently security working, otherwise, which would lead to destroy equipments or do harm to workers. The security and reliability of a certain clamp was researched based on Virtual Manufacturing technology which provided some ways to solve those problems. Some hidden problems would be avoided and the design scheme would be improved by means of simulation and analysis based on Virtual Manufacturing Technology.The main work and conclusions are as follows:1. The clamp was theoretically designed based on analytical mechanics: The machine theory and mechanics character was lucubrated; the dynamic feedback process of the clamp was provided; the safe working condition of the clamp was obtained.2. The forces of various hinge points were obtained. Moreover, the forces varies with the difference diameter of the clamp was studied and was listed by virtue of computer programs, which provided theoretically foundation for Finite Element Analysis.3. The virtual prototyping was established and the working reliability was simulated based on ADAMS platform. The reliability parameters of the clamp were obtained, the correctness of the theoretic design was validated by means of simulation and analysis.4. A way which use to optimize the whole clamp structure was provided based onfinite element analysis and carried out on the two-boom vertical coil clamp. The result showed that the way reasonably solved a conflict between intensity and reliability of the clamp.
