The core of theory of speech act lies in language is a kind of behavior in essence. The basic unit of language exchange is speech act. News title means the simple language which indicate news reports happened recently. Studies about theory of speech act and news title by scholars are plentiful. On the basis of those achievements of the two directions, this thesis mainly conducts shallow researchs on newspaper's title in the era of reading news title from the perspective of speech act. It discusses the constitutive rules and the regulative rules of news title.It also deals with perlocutionary act. Emphasis is put on the regulative rules of news title.The purpose of the study is to explore the characters of Chinese newspaper's title applying theory of speech act from the west so as to hasten reading speed in need of the development in the era of reading news title.The thesis carries out analysis based on the main news titles from People's Daily (July, 2005). Due to different numbers of the printed sheets, the first four printed sheets are chosen in order to insure the same and reliable of the research.The methodologies employed in the thesis are the combination of the method of research and study, the method of sample statistics, the method of chart making, the method of comparison and analysis as well as the method of summarizing and inducing.The study focuses on explicating problems by giving examples.The paper is conducive to study news title actively, breaking traditional still research method, making readers understand the intentions of the disseminator accurately and effectively in a sense, so as to shorten the distances between them and emphasize the dissemination effect.
