There is no doubt that VPN (virtual private network) is very popular among the modern net technology nowadays. VPN provides a kind of new solution via the priority of open main internet. It can establish virtual private network for enterprises and specific users via existing public network, saving network running and maintaining cost. MPLS is the next-generation main network technology which merges the priority of exchange technology of ATM and the IP designation flexibility. MPLS VPN is the virtual private network based on MPLS technology, forming special networks on the public network just to realise broad band communication of data, sound, video; in the mean time, integrated with difference service, flux construction technology, etc., MPLS VPN can provide higher quality service to the users. This article is based on the development and application of MPLS VPN, studying the launch and application in Guiyang Geography Information System (GYGIS). During the study, the author read large amount of related literature, knew more about the application theory of MPLS and MPLS VPN technology; the author also finished complete equipment installation, configuration and test, set up GYGIS core network platform according to the requirement of GYGIS; the author analyses different types of data of the GYGIS application system, summarized the solution to QoS application in the main network.First this article introduces the development and application of VPN, analyses its priority and disadvantages, then describes the frame work and working process of MPLS, discusses the frame work, composing, working principle of MPLS VPN, QoS guarantee. On the above mentioned basis, the author lists out the MPLS VPN application solution in the GYGIS, analyses the designing and disposition of combination of OSPF and BGP/MPLS VPN technology used in GYGIS; how to realize the interlink and isolation requirement; finally, the author suggests by combination of MPLS and DiffServ, to realize QoS on the main network, forming a solution to the application of QoS on MPLS network.
