LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) is an effective solution to reducethe weight and volume of system, and improve the performance of system. Passivecomponents of LTCC and X-band T/R module are studied in this paper.This paper summarize the schedule drawing and technical characteristicsof LTCC, then presenting its function of embedding inductor roundly. The HFSSand ADS is used to design a multilayer Helical inductor which the value ofL is 6.6nH, and we give some simulation result to prove their rationality.Because of the limitation of LTCC's process, solid metal ground issubstituted with meshed ground, A study in the effects and performance ofmeshed metal ground is carried on in this paper. And corresponding measuresto improve the performance of LTCC modules are presented.Finally, a 9 W microwave T/R module is designed in this paper. The papermainly research on scheme and high power amplifier. The module is realizedthrough the regime of phased array. Every module is realized through MMICs.We choose a multi-function chip to achieve both of phase shifter and attenuator.At the same time, we design a frame to allow the module to use the samemulti-function chip both at transmit and receive. So we can save some chips,and the size of whole module is reduced. We select Wilkinson power splitterand Lange coupler as power splitter and power combiner to improve output power.We use emulational software which is HFSS and ADS to emulate Wilkinson powersplitter and Lange coupler and achieve good result. Using LTCC technology,the circuit layout of power amplifier, passive components including powersplitters/combiners) and bias circuit are designed.
