The major component of computer memory system is hard disk, because itsmechanism aspect reason, its performance for many years hasn't been greatly improved sothat it has become the computer performance's bottleneck. In order to improve the externalmemory's performance, at present the feasible method mainly sets up the RAID. RAID hasmany kinds of realization plan, for example, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5 and so on.The setting can be achieved by not only the hardware control chip, but also the embeddedsoftware's RAID function of operating system. Ordinarily, in the hardware RAIDrealization plan, the identical group hard disk only can realize one kind of RAID plan, butMATRIX RAID that promoted by Intel Corporation may simultaneously realize RAID 0and RAID 1 on two hard disks, has simultaneously satisfied the users' various requests bythe lowest price. This paper has mainly researched each kind of RAID plans' performance.It has set up many kinds of RAID plan through two test platforms. Through rigorousexperiments, it has analyzed each plan's performance carried on the analysis by thedetailed data. Also the reliability of each plan has been proved by different ways. Thepaper has also carried on the theoretical calculation to each kind of common RAID planreliability, lays the foundation for users choosing the correct plan by taking thequantification data. Finally, the paper has summarized the research work, and put forwardthe proposal for later research work. |
