Esg (electronic Service Guide) In The Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting And Data Services

Mobile multimedia broadcasting means to implement the mobile reception of multimedia information such as video, audio, data and so on by broadcasting technology. It can not only provide profuse audio and video programs, but also services such as weather forecast, communication information, share-list, music downloading and so forth. Electronic Service Guide (ESG), as the navigationis system of it, is the most intuitionistic expression mode. With the help of ESG system, users can expediently acquire services'and programs'information, and inquire about programs information they want by time or by service.This paper based on mobile multimedia broadcasting, combined with practice experience,discusses the following matters:1. The main standards in and outside China, including ISDB-T, S-DMB, DVB-H, Media FLO, and CMMB, are introduced.2. ESG system based on CMMB is anatomized, including its content and work manner, and some proposals are given to improve the design of ESG.3. A realization project of ESG is designed, adopting modularization notion, using C language, accomplishing the software programme of head-end and tail-end. The head-end system is made up of five modules which are configuration information files, ESG data-bese, XML files'building, user interface, and ESG management. The tail-end is also constituted by five modules, which are sub-frame distilling, XML deparsing, data model, display abstract, and display. ESG data are collected, composesed, coded and multiplexed head-end, and demultiplexed, decoded and recomposesed in tail-end.4. Some designs of data services such as NVOD, stock market, MP4 download, communication information system are analyzed. It contains not only the content, but also the realization mechanism.This paper provides a scheme to carry out the design of ESG. The model of the scheme is programmed and verified on ASUS a730 as the hardware platform and Visual Studio 2005 as the software platform. This design has industrial significance, because the software codes can be transported to other embedded system to gain commercial value.In this paper, an efficient arithmetic aimed at XML building and parsing based on ESG is introduced.The research and designs of the Data Service will be very helpful to implement it, though it is not verified yet.
