EDGE(Enhanced Data Rate for GSM Evolution) is the next step in the evolution of GSM/GPRS.EDGE is a method to increase the data rates on the radio link for GSM.Basically, EDGE only introduces a new modulation technique(8-PSK) and new channel coding , however reuse the same channel structure and channel width as the GPRS.In this paper, the demodulation for the 8-PSK EDGE wireless system will be discussed and studied. At first, the generation of the 8-PSK signal wil be introduced. Then the demoduation for the 8-PSK will be studied. It is included that blind detection, channel estimation and channel equalization in which MMSE-DFE will be used.At last,I will create a program to simulate all the modulation and demodulation for 8-PSK in Matlab . According to the results of the simulation , the 8-PSK demodulation perfectly wokes for a SNR superior to 21dB.At the same time ,the demodulator is performed in the fixed point DSP.It is taken about 0.616ms to realize a demodulation for a timeslot ,and 2.464ms for 4 timeslots. The real-time performance can be satisfied.
