Infrared remote control has a lot of advantages such as low cost,low power,convenient connecting and application,so it applies to many kinds of small-scale mobile devices extensively.At present,infrared remote control has become a standard part of house appliances.Almost all TV sets,VCRs,DVD players,stereo and air-conditions can be controlled this way.This paper introduces the development of infrared remote receiver chip,which is a miniaturized receiver IC for the infrared remote control system.This chip has a wide operating voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V, a high sensitivity,good noise immunity and high immunity from external light source disturbance.One can select four different frequency value of carrier wave(36.0kHz,37.9 kHz,40.0 kHz,56.7 kHz).And there are five Trimming Pads on the chip for the fine adjustment of the central frequency.This chip includes necessary signal processing modules.They can be used to detect the signal of photocurrent,to amplify and filter the signal,to demodulate and then recover the usable signal.Based on the CMOS technology the design of the chip is completed, including the simulation and layout in tools of Cadence and Tanner.A 0.5um mixed signal CMOS processing technology with double wells is used for the layout.The completed design has been transferred to the MPW (multi-project wafer) project of Shanghua Corporation.
