With the rapid development of asymmetric digital subscriber line(ADSL) services,the maintenance and management of operational equipments and subscriber lines have become increasingly prominent.Compared with the plain old telephone service(POTS),the maintenance and management of ADSL services has a higher complexity and a larger difference in the technique,making the maintenance and management of ADSL fixed-line operators become difficult. There are some defects existing in the proposals of "high-frequency derived from low-frequency",digital subscriber line access multiplexer(DSLAM) network management,and broadband instrumentation testing.The faults maintenance support system of broadband services studied in this paper supply a better method to solve the problem.In this paper,the main parts include:1) Analyze the business model,faults point,and faults type of ADSL and compare the similarities and differences in the maintenance and management between the ADSL services and the POTS to give the application requirements of three aspects of ADSL services of operators,including the business provisioning,declaration faults maintenance,and network quality analysis.2) Bring forward the programming of the faults maintenance support system of broadband services based on the analysis of system requirements.The system is based on multi-level control architecture,with a comprehensive ADSL test functions and faults analysis means,which provides specific browser/server (B/S) applications for related departments of the maintenance and management of ADSL services of operators.In program planning,architecture description and functional definition are carried out from two layers of application presentations and application services,fully demonstrating aspects of the system in the basic interface,test tools,testing applications,and system management.3) Develop the faults maintenance support system of broadband services with Eclipse 3.0 + Java SE 5.0(back end) and Dojo 1.0(front end) as the main tools.Hardware installation,software deployment,data flows,and protocols of the system are described in detail.There are a certain degree of features and advantages in the technological development of system design and implementation in layers,business control flow customization,asynchronous Web communication and interaction,and system built-in debugging mechanisms.4) The faults maintenance support system of broadband services has been achieved and put into commercial use,getting a good impact of the practical application.On-site statistical data show that the application of the system effectively reduced the duration of faults and the invalid dispatch of outside trouble man,thereby decreasing the labor intensity of surveyors and improving the work efficiency of maintenance and management staff.The system also plays an important role in reducing the maintenance and management costs of operators, improving the customer satisfaction and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises.Establishment of efficient and viable broadband maintenance management systems is not only the basic assurance of the rapid and steady development of the broadband access for fixed network operators but also the topic put forward with the rapid development of the information age.The faults maintenance support system of broadband services studied in this paper conforms to this demand,which is able to escort the running quality of broadband services and is of great significance to promote the healthy and continuous development of broadband services.
