The author of this paper kicks off with academic and profession review of the emerging media before specifying what the emerging media refer to in the given context of this paper. The author holds that compared with other forms of media, the new media, standing out for the unique advantages and development potentials, assume a leading role in the formation of the national image. The paper probes into nine aspects concerning the overall size of netizens, the growth rate of websites, the rate of use of net media, the scale of mobile phone development and outdoor media development. The paper concludes that the emerging media are characterized by interactivity, freedom of speech, unique communication mode of multi-point dissemination and huge information storage.
