As an emerging low-cost, low-power, low-rate, short-range wireless sensor network technology, ZigBee technology is used in the fields as environmental monitoring, industrial site acquisition, intelligent home automation and medical treatment. The positioning technology of mobile node which based on ZigBee is increasingly concerned. At present, most localization algorithms which based on static nodes positioning is not mature in the positioning of the mobile node study. But the mobile node's location information is more important in practical applications, it is significant to research the positioning of the mobile node.The thesis introduces the application platform based on ZigBee. CC2430/2431 is used as the core chip with the expansion of several interfaces, such as RS-232 interface, infrared emitter and infrared receiver. ZigBee Communication protocol and positioning algorithm are finished in software. The system which based on the ZigBee technology realizes the design and debugging of shuttle run item. In order to improve the positioning accuracy, the thesis makes more experiments which changing the number, the distribution of reference nodes and the localization algorithm, and analyses the results.The thesis results show that wireless sensor network technology based on ZigBee can be easily applied. Shuttle run item which used the typical wireless sensor network completes the functions of wireless network and signal sensing. Through increasing the number of reference nodes and improving the localization algorithm, the positioning error of the mobile node is reduced and the accuracy is improved.
