Zhu Zi Bian Lue, written by Liu Qi in Qing Dynasty, is the first monograph of function word which possesses complete stylistic rules and layout in the history of our country. Zhu Zi Bian Lue has made remarkable achievement in three aspects:the scale of words, the division of parts of speech and the means of explanation of ancient words, it is an important function words work in the history of Chinese linguistics. Jing Zhuan Shi Ci, written by Wang Yinzhi, is also a monograph of function words which has great affection and prominent status in the Chinese linguistics history. The explanation of function word in Jing Zhuan Shi Ci has the significant enlightenment to the posterity. Jing Zhuan Shi Ci has great value in the following two aspects:explain the words which were misunderstanded by the predecessor, the research method of words meaning is better than the predecessor s. Zhu Zi Bian Lue and Jing Zhuan Shi Ci were completed in different times, but Wang Yinzhi had not read Zhu Zi Bian Lue. The two books reflect that the two scholars'opinion were in common in many aspects. This thesis compares the grammar thoughts, the explaining contents and the explaining methods of two books.The thesis has the following five parts:The first part is Introduction, this part gives a brief account of our predecessors'opinion about function words before Zhu Zi Bian Lue. And it also introduces the present research situation of Zhu Zi Bian Lue and Jing Zhuan Shi Ci, the research content and the significance of the thesis.The first chapter is the overview of Zhu Zi Bian Lue and Jing Zhuan Shi Ci. It introduces the authors, the editions, the characters and the arrangement styles of the two books. The character of Jing Zhuan Shi Ci is an exegesis work, the opinion is generally accepted in the linguistic field. While about the character of Zhu Zi Bian Lue, scholars have different opinions, someone think that it is a rhetorical work, someone think that it is an exegesis work, some people think that it is a combination of the two aspects.The second chapter is "the comparison of grammar thoughts". Both Zhu Zi Bian Lue and Jing Zhuan Shi Ci have the definition of the function words, embody the classification of the function words. Liu Qi express function words with "ci"(辞),but Wang Yinzhi with "ci"(词).Liu Qi classified the function words to thirty types in his preface, whileWang Yinzhi didn't. The classification of the function words is embodied by the terms and the text. The chapter compares and analysises the combined function word and grammaticalization of the two books.The third chapter is "the comparison of explanation contents of function words". Because the words scale of the two books are different, they have the same words, and the different words. This chapter has carried on the comparison into two kinds of situations. To the same words, it compares semantic items and quotes. To the different words, it depicts the limits.The fourth chapter is "the comparison of the explanation methods of function words" Two book's selection scopes are different, the period of Zhu Zi Bian Lue's material selected is longer, and the selection scope is broader than Jing Zhuan Shi Ci's. This chapter defines the time limitation of Jing Zhuan Shi Ci' materials again. The two books explain the function words with scientific and reasonable methods. The characteristic of Zhu Zi Bian Lue explained the function words with dialect and choice of words at that time. Phonetic explanation as typical exegesis method in the Qing Dynasty is important method which Wang Yinzhi rectified the the ancient's explanation.Compared Zhu Zi Bian Lue and Jing Zhuan Shi Ci, the researchment shows the function words used in ancient times, uses for reference in other composition of monograph of function words, provides information for our researchment of ancient function words and grammaticalization.
