Optical communication is the only solution of long distance and large capacity communication. Besides fiber itself, optical devices are necessary for the optical communication systems. OCM (Optical Channel Monitor) is an optical device which monitors the power of the DWDM system and enables Engineer to see the health of system.Many of the OCMs already in the market use thin film filter and grating to build the demultiplexer, and an array of detectors to detect the power. Those solutions are very complicated and expensive. With new technology, new structure and new algorithm demonstrated in this paper, a new kind of OCM is presented that is not sensitive to degradation, whose price could be much cheaper as well.The sequence of this thesis is as followed:1. Made a brief introduction of the OCMs that are already in sale, pointed out their disadvantages and listed down what can be improved.2. Designed a new theoretical structure named "Double-Pass", analyzed the optical system and the feasibility, discussed the risks and the solutions about this structure.3. Experimentized with the filter, motor, optical system and dealt with the problems rised from the experiments.4. Used deconvolution to solve the problems which are hard to be handled by updating devices. Normal deconvolution, Wiener Filter, Jansson Iteration, L-R Maximum Likelihood Deconvolution are discussed, and achieved the goal set in the front of this thesis.5. Summarized the work and gave suggestions about further research directions.
