The phase array radar uses same signal, and controls the phase of each transmitter signal. So the direction of beam-form can change. The orthogonal signal radar is studied with new system radar .The cross-relation peak of this kind of signal is zero level. The new system radar can change the phase array radar detection mode. The frequency code orthogonal signal and phase code orthogonal signal are two important kind of the orthogonal signal. So the array antenna process technology of the new system radar is different from tradition phase array radar.The study is about key array antenna process theory and technology of the new system radar based on orthogonal signal.The radar function and SNR are impotent for understanding the new system radar. After analyzing the new system radar theory, the advantage and disadvantage of the new system radar can easily be showed.The orthogonal signal is very important for studying the new system radar. This paper classes the orthogonal signal. The phase code orthogonal signal is studied deeply. The particle swarm algorithm is used to design phase code orthogonal signal. Design results show that the algorithm is good effective for the design random phase code signals.It is a good method to analyze the phase shift problem. So we can find the differences between the phase array system radar and orthogonal signal system radar easily. In this paper, a new valid algorithm—Gram-Schmidt algorithm is used to resolve array antenna spectrum estimation based on orthogonal signal.At the end of this research, we discuss the beam-forming problem based on orthogonal signal.
