In the wake of the economic integration, the access into the WTO of China, the changes of the transportation means, the development of the modern information technology, and the further implementation of the port system, the management environment and marketing feature of the port enterprise have changed profoundly. The changes have brought important development opportunities and severe challenges, and roused the competition between the port enterprises up to the new step. The competition features of the regionalization, nationalization have manifested more and more obviously, and the degree has become more and more intense.Shanghai port is being faced more and more intense marketing competition, as well as getting a great development opportunity. The globalization of the container transportation has endowed the alliance of the shipping companies or groups with the bigger marketing competition, and the price capability. The rouse of the ports container business around the Shanghai has become true, such as Suzhou, Ningbo and so on. The ports in the Changsanjiao aero are faced a great integration of the ports resource.The advanced position of the container business of the Shanghai port in the Changsanjiao aero can not be vacillated in the short time. But the negotiation capability of the Shanghai port will be reduced to ports around, consigners and the shipping companies. On the stand of the big port after the partition of the politics and enterprise, how to establish the competition advantage in the intense market?This article try to introduce the new competition theory——co-opetition into the tactics ofthe container business of Shanghai port, and give some suggestions to it. There are four parts.The first part: the summery of the co-opetition introduce the present of the co-opetition theory, analysis the different competition theories, including the contributions and the defaults, and illustrate the application in the port.The second part: the competition analysis of container business in Shanghai port. Analyze the competition which Shanghai port is faced with, point out the problems existing in the tactics of Shanghai port, and analyze the importance of the co-opetition for Shanghai port.The third part: the tactics of the competition in port. Propose the aims of the co-opetition:the short run, the middle period, the long run. Introduce the traditional way of the co-opetition and the method of the partition,and propose the new method. Probe into the method of the realization of Shanghai port co-opetion, make out three concrete schemes of the co-opetition.The forth part: the designing of the co-opetition for the container business of Shanghai port. Analyze the mates of the Shanghai port, elaborate the three tactics and the application of the tactics onto the different mates. At the end, give out the relative suggestions.Shanghai port must put the co-opetition tactics into practice earnest, so that the container business can brave the wind and wave in the international competition, the port group in Changsanjiao area can bring team affect into play, Shanghai international maritime center can talent revealing itself in the intense competition.
