There must be intents behind an ERP implementation, such as enhancing efficiency, saving cost, promoting information sharing, facilitating interpersonal communication, etc. However, in practice, we can see many systems fail to achieve their original goals, and even some of them totally collapse. Therefore, many studies propose possible reasons to explain this phenomenon. Most related studies indicate that technology is not the main reason for system failure. That is because introducing an information system to an organization is an interaction between technology, organization and people;technology is only one of the factors that participate in the interaction.Adaptive Structuration Theory (AST) is a theoretical model that describes the interaction between technology, organization and people when an information system is introduced to an organization. In this AST model, there is a very fresh concept, unfaithful appropriation, which means that technology is appropriated inconsistent with the general intent regarding the values and goals underlying this technology. We intend to discuss why users have unfaithful appropriation because of the following reasons: First, unfaithful appropriation can influence system outcome, such as user satisfaction, effectiveness of business process etc. Second, exploring the concept of unfaithful appropriation is helpful for knowing why technology doesn't bring the goals that are originally expected. Third, there have been few studies regarding this issue in MIS field.This Paper combined qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis together, and constructed the research frame on the basis of reading former research aticles and interviewing the uses and directors from different companies which had implemented ERP system.We checked up our hypotheses through analyzing questionnaire datum and the research tool was SPSS.The result shows that user's unfaithful appropriation may result from the following reasons: Task-Technology Fit, user's perceive about the ERP, the situation of the ERP's system construction and execution, user's task features, and the degree that a user believes how other users accept and appropriate the system.But some factors mentioned in the theory do not affect user's unfaithful appropriation in this reserch, such as use custom, user's knowledge and experience about ERP, ERP system's technical characteristic.The research also discovers some other conclusion as below;first, consultant's function is bigger than the user's percentage participating in the term of promotion of user's cognition.Second, the Task-Technology Fit is the factor which can explain the user's unfaithful appropriation mostly. Third, Information department's development strength connects with user's unfaithful appropriation indirectly.
