Cost Information To Support Product Design Decisions

The study on cost information of supporting concurrent design aims to help the designers make decision during process of concurrent design. Designers consider all kinds of factors affecting product cost at the early stages of design. Research attains to decline developing cost and shorten developing times and improve design efficiency.Firstly, the dissertation analyses product design process, characteristics of concurrent design and serial design, management and the crucial technology of product design. Secondly, the cost information is classified into two types. One type includes supply, market, design, manufacture, use, maintenance, scrap, recycle cost information according to life cycle cost, the other includes quality, equipment, materials, human, power, environment cost information and so on according to cost factor. Also it analyses the source and data format of cost according to the internal and external of enterprise. Thirdly, the requirements for cost information of concurrent design each stage and collecting methods of cost information of internal and external of enterprise are analyzed, the model of cost information relating to product design is established. Fourthly, the cost knowledge management is presented, and it is divided into internal and external cost knowledge management. The dissertation also discusses the processing of cost information. Finally, the dissertation analyses the affection of cost and feedback cost information in concurrent design. The cost decision framework is established, and the process of cost data collection, processing, and feedback cost knowledge to concurrent design is described in the cost decision framework.
