Market concentration is a basic problem in Industry Organization Theory. In current theory, market size is only regarded as one of many factors that affect market concentration. But with the growth of domestic economic and the globalization of world economic, the influence of market size is more and more apparent, it has been an important variable that changes market concentration. So the relationship between market size and market concentration become an important theoretical problem.China has the advantage of wide land ,much population and huge market. With the faster step of market reform ,the growing of macroeconomic and the increase of national income ,the demand of many industries is increasing. At that time ,the condition of market concentration in these industries changes noticeably. Then, does there exist association between market size and the changing market concentration ?If exists, policy should be made in order to use the power of market size to improve the condition of market concentration .So this problem become a focus to the people of industry and policy-maker.This paper takes the example of Chinese insurance industry, and has systematic discussion about the relationship and transaction between market size and market concentration .It is divided by five parts.Part one ,from the point of theory and practice ,the research about the relationship between market size and market concentration is very necessary ,and the condition between domestic and foreign research about this problem is simply compared.
