The cruel price war forced Chinese television companies to find a proper way of industry upgrade. According to the analysis based on Vernon's life cycle theory, product upgrade is an important part of industry upgrade and break-through technology is the key strength. Television manufacturing companies represented by developed countries are typical technology-orientated enterprises. Further study on Chinese television companies shows that the shortage of break-through technology is the very difference between Chinese companies and international companies. Therefore, Chinese companies are typical production-orientated enterprises. What's more, it is technological trench that create these two different enterprises, which resulting in two different ways of industry upgrade. Chinese companies are supposed to implement research and development strategy, merge and acquisition strategy and cluster strategy so as to improve independent innovation ability, promote product upgrade and transfer from production-orientated enterprises to technology-orientated enterprises.
