Higher animals'cerebral cortex is a multi-layer structure, The development and migration of neuronal stem cells towards out layer is crucial for such structure formation. A member of metalloprotease____AD AM 17 (A Disintegrin And Metalloprotease 17) play an important role in the function of a variety of membrane proteins involved in above process. Including the number of epidermal growth factor receptor ligands and Notch protein. However, the function of ADAM 17 in cortex development is still elusive.In our study, we first used immunoprecipitation, western blot and immunofluorescence method to detect the protein expression of ADAM 17 during the mouse cerebral cortex development, Then we used RNA interference and IUE (In Utero Electropration) to knock down the expression of ADAM17 during mice cortex development. Our results revealed that ADAM 17 is critical for neuronal progenitor cells migration in cortex development. After knocking down the expression of ADAM 17 during E14 to E18 in mice, the migration of those neuronal progenitor cells towards out layer was blocked and those cells were stocked in the subventricular zone of cortex.
