The debris flow is a common geological disaster in mountainous area, as the increasing activities of world economic, the excessive exploitation and continual destruction on the environment, there will be debris flow events around the world each year. Therefore, we should strengthen the research, assessment, management of debris flow, organize the prevention of debris flow effectively, try to prevent the occurrence of debris flow and reduce disaster losses.This paper choose the middle of northern Qinling Mountains as the environmental background, Zhiyang valley in Lintong district, Xi'an city as a typical debris flow, combined with field survey, analyze the debris flow characteristics, Predicted hazard range and make its risk assesment of debris flow disaster. Details are as follows:(1)Expound environmental geological background and debris flow types of the middle of northern Qinling Mountains, analyze dbris flow formation conditions, summarize the development law of the middle of northern Qinling Mountains including debris flow show obvious chain phenomenon, fluid properties of debris flow affected by lithology distribution, the size and risk of debris flow is controlled by the complexity of geological structure.(2)Analyze the specific characteristics based on studying the geological environment of Zhiyang valley, including characteristics of the valley, analysis of debris flow movement and dynamics and analysis of development process, verify the total source in Zhiyang valley; calculate a total amount of debris flow process, a total amount of out solid material and the overall impact force.(3)Use visual fortran to program and established mathematical model about unsteady flow movement in a straight channel which is used to simulate debris flow movement in the special case of unsteady transient flow just as obstacles piled in the valley. Finally, perform propagation of debris flow vividly by velocity change and bed features of dbris fow.(4)Predict the scope of damage in Zhiyang valley based on mastering the gully features of Zhiyang valley, calculate the scope of the final damage as overall source flow out; after assessing the risk of Zhiyang valley from the extent of debris flow, risk index, risk degree, draw the qualitative conlusions, further pridict the probability of occurrence and the possibility of overflow.(5)Propose the necessity of debris flow prevention of Zhiyang valley through analyzing the valley features, risk status and the threaten object, propose the control observations and recommendations according to the actual situation of Zhiyang valley.To sum up, this paper studies debris flow about analysis and prediction of Zhiyang valley in the Middle of the Qinling Mountains and obtains some useful conclusions which can apply to preventing and controling debris flow.
