Nowdays, available biologic sequence data is growing with each passing day withthe completion of human genomic project(HGP).It becomes a primary research content inthe bioinformatics to analyze the mass data of biology sequence and obtain the valuableinformation for people. There is one problem that we have worked in this paper. We usethe log-correlation distance and mutual information method analyze the phylogeny of 30parvoviruses and 124 large dsDNA viruses. The article is made up of four parts. In the first part, the basic concept, the contentand target of study for bioinformatics are introduced. It also introduces the widely usedthe mathematical method or model in bioinformatic and basic knowledge of the virus. In the second part, two methods(log-correlation distance and mutual information)based on the statistics and information theory are proposed. In addition, we briefly explainthe reason that this two methods are used for analyzing the phylogeny of species. In the third part, two distances are used to process and analyze the whole genomesequence of 30 parvoviruses and 124 dsDNA viruses. And then the phylogeny tree fortwo kinds of virus is constructed respectively. In the phylogentic analysis of the 30 par-voviruses and 124 dsDNA viruses, The phylogentic tree got is consistent with those ob-tained by using the traditional methods. Comprehensiving the analysis and result of previ-ous, we proposed the methods for phylogeny are reliable and stable. At the same time, thecase of phylogentic tree classification were discussed from the biological point of view. The fourth part is a summary of the entire paper. And the theories and methods usedwere generalized. We had also done a brief description on the need for future work.
