The Yarlung Zangbo River between Gangdise-Nyainqentangglha and Himalayas Mountains is a very important transportation route in the Tibetan Plateau,which ia as one of the important route of political,economic and national defense strategy of China.The rock fragmentary,mountain instability and variety ofadverse geological development in the Jiacha to Milin section along the Yarlung Zangbo River.A large volume of moraine,ice deposits and debris pile has been generated by the strong glaciation and frost weathering and piled in the valleies,which is as solide sources to inducing the debris flow.There are 52 glacial debris valleies in the study area and the comprehensive and systematic study to the formation conditions of these valleies will reveal the activities features of glacial debris which is necessary to the glacial debris disaster prevention and mitigration countermeasures along the Yarlung Zangbo River in the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau.The formation conditions of glacial debris has been systematic studied through on—site research on the debris flow valley,and obtained,organized information, supported by statistical analysis based on particular geographical environment and the interpretation of high altitude forming region with GIS technology.The glacial debris activities features has been analysised based on the climate change on glaciers in the Tibetan Plateau.Finally,there is extremely important implications to the further research to the glacial debris in the study area by the deep analysis of three typical glacial debris flow ofthe three defferent sections.In summary,this article analyzes the formation conditions and activities features of glacial debris flows in the Jiacha to Milin Section along Yarlung Zangbo River . The article also supplies fundamental materials and scientific methods to alleviate and subsequently prevent the debris flows with economic development,social stability, ethnic unity and national security practical implications in the Tibetan Plateau.
