Study On Geological Characteristics And Genesis Of Chayuan Ferrous Manganese Deposit In Zunyi County, Guizhou Province

Chayuan ferrous manganese deposit is a part of Zunyi-type manganese metallogenic belt with good development prospect, which is located on the east of Zunyi City, Guizhou province. Zunyi City is rich in manganese ore resources, Tongluojing manganese deposit, Fengjiawan manganese deposit, Gongqinghu manganese deposit, Tuanxi manganese deposit and others are the main manganese deposit in the areal. The Tongluojing manganese deposit is a large manganese deposit in Zunyi areal, and it's a typical Zunyi-type manganese deposit.Since oxidized manganese ores were discovered in Tongluojing areal in 1944, there have some geological exploration works and geological research works did in the areal. The research results in the areal indicates there have good prospecting potential in Zunyi areal.Based on the field investigation of geological characteristics, rock-mineral identification, main element analysis and microelement analysis, the paper indicates that Longtan formation of upper Permian (P3l) is the ledge, and the ferrous manganese orebodies occur within the bottom part of Longtan formation. The lithology of the ledge is mainly clay, and contains a lot of pyrite.The orebodies occur as lens, the thickness of the orebody is 0.89~2.69m, and the main mineral is protogenous ferrous manganese carbonate. Compare with the other manganese deposits in Zunyi-type manganese metallogenic belt, the paper indicates that Chayuan ferrous manganese deposit is a ancient weathering crust sedimentary deposit, the manganese derived from residual manganese-bearing basalt which comes from ancient weathering crust near the late Permian epoch lake basin, the deposit formed in a alkalescent reducing environment.
