In this paper, in-depth study on the fuzzy pattern recognition of common plane figures, such as the triangle and the convex quadrilateral, has been conducted.Besides, a systematic introduction of the fuzzy pattern recognition has also been presented, which covers its basic concepts, the common methods and the application procedures.For the triangle, based on the maximum membership principle of the given threshold, studies guided by a classification method of the acceptable index factors have been carried out and two membership functions have come up, one is the exponential membership function, taking the angle of the triangle as the characteristic index, the differences among the three internal angles as the base number and index variables, while the other is based on the characteristic index of the side; as for a convex quadrilateral type, according to the threshold principle and the maximum membership principle, the two-level fuzzy pattern recognition research has been carried out, together with the presented new membership function and the corresponding algorithm.Its feasibility has been verified through numerical examples, which will be instructive and of certain reference value to the figural automatic recognition in actual application.The research work of this paper is mainly engaged as follows:1. The development process is elaborated of the pattern recognition and fuzzy pattern recognition. Introduce the origin and application of fuzzy mathematics. Summarize the purpose and significance of this paper as well as its main research contents.2. Overview the basic definition of fuzzy sets, membership function and membership. Introduce the fuzzy pattern recognition including the basic concepts, the common methods and the general application procedures.3. Take the angles and sides as the two characteristic indexes, in-depth researches on fuzzy pattern recognition of triangle type have been conducted, with two corresponding membership functions being put forward, together with the detailed identification and algorithm process verified by numerical examples.4. Explore the classified recognition of the type of the convex quadrilateral through a two-level fuzzy pattern recognition. Present more comprehensive membership functions, and display detailed recognition and algorithm process, with the results verified through numerical examples.5. Summarize the fuzzy pattern recognition of the common plane figure in this paper research, and point out the projects that need further research and improvement.
