The paper is subsidized by the foreign mineral resources exploration special funds project, "Preliminary Exploration on Sydney Cu-Mo polymetallic deposit, Nova Scotia, Canada"(Project No.10254B008), which is implemented by Beijing Donia Resources Co., Ltd. The author taken the Coxheath porphyry copper molybdenum deposit as a research object, analyzing the features of ore-bearing strata, petrology, mineralization, alteration, fluid inclusion and element geochemistry, and making a study of the spatial distribution regularities of the ore-forming elements and accompanying elements. Besides, summarizing the genetic model of the Coxheath porphyry copper molybdenum deposit and having a comparative analysis between this deposit and other typical porphyry copper molybdenum deposits around the world. On the basis of the above-mentioned researches, the prospecting model of this ore deposit are established. Several results goes as follow.1. Conduct a detailed research of the geologic characteristic and confirm the features of the mineralization and wall-rock alteration zoning.2. By means of the identification of rock and minerals, determine the succession that minerals formed. Moreover, according to data of the fluid inclusion, conclude that salinity and temperature of the ore-forming fluids, at the same time ascertain the period of the fluid.3. The host rock of the deposit is intrusive rock. There is a well linear correlation between the content of SiO2 and other oxidate in intrusive rock. With the content of the SiO2 increasing, the content of TiO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3, MgO, CaO, P2O5 declines sharply. The trace elements, like U, Mo, Au, Rb, Sr, Cs, W, Pb, U and so on, enriches obviously. On the contrary, the content of Cr, Ni, Co losses apparently. The rare-earth element curve takes on light rare-earth enrichment type.4. The discrimination diagrams show that the intrusive rock's evolution of tectonic setting is the continental margin or island arc, its source materials partly derive from the mantle and mainly affected by the contamination of crust.5. By way of cluster analysis and factorial analysis of 1876 pieces of borehole core sample test data, it concludes that there is several elements having close relationship with metallogenesis, such as Cu, Au, Ag, Bi, Pb, Cd, Mo, W. Meanwhile, the space distribution of these elements do not appear obvious rule, which indicates mineralization is more complex.6. Summarize the Ore-forming geological characteristics of the Coxheath porphyry copper molybdenum deposit, combine the features of other typical porphyry copper molybdenum deposits both at home and abroad, and confirm six symbols of mineralization, such as tectonic, stratum, magmatic rock, country rock alteration, geophysics, geochemistry and so on. At the same time, the author establishes a comprehensive prospecting model and points out the key of prospecting in next step.
