This paper analyzes the characteristics of land use change both in quantity and in spatial by the evaluation index of geographic information map and regional economic based on the related statistical yearbooks and other papers after translating the data of mss image in 1989, aerial images in 2001, Geoeye remote sensing image in 2001.Construction of a database of land use change and statistical analysis showed that: the overall trend of land use change in Changchun city and suburban is that with the farm land and water area are reducing the construction land the area of which the greatest one and is about 66% of the total area increased from 202 kilometers to 604 kilometers in this 20 years from 1989 to 2009.Extraction of remote sensing images obtained in 1989, the city edge of the city is 141.25 square km area, and urban area in 2001 was 317 square kilometers, an area of 589 cities in 2009 square kilometers.
