Rare-earth alloy functional materials are concerned in the high-tech industries in recentyears, the rapid growth of rare earth application in the magnetic materials,luminescentmaterials,hy-drogen storage materials,catalysis materials. Rare-earth alloy functional materialsin the application of high-tech started from the 70's and quickly formed the high-tech industries.In particular, RE-M(M=Co,Ni) alloy, are studied more in the rencent.Rare-earth alloy functional materials are prepared from vacuum evaporation, cathodesputtering, ion plating, and other physical vapor deposition technology, but there is the high costof these methods and the processes are complex. In contrast, electro-deposition method is a lowcost and simple processe. The morphology and physical properties of the alloy film is well, afterall, this is a good way.The common methods of electro-deposition are mainly deposition,irregular deposition, balance deposition, anomalous deposition and inductive deposition,according to the nature of rare earth ,we prepare Re-M(M=Ni,Co) alloy film by inductivedeposition way.Select the appropriate electro-deposition system is also important in rare-erath alloy filmmaterials prepared , according to the nature of the rare earth we can choose non-aqueous systemas electro-deposition system, we have chosen organic solvent N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) asthe basis for electro-deposition system.Firstly we measure the conductivity of DMF byConductivity Analyzer. We add the supporting electrolyte LiClO4 to the DMF solution.We makecyclic voltammetry by LK2005C electrochemical workstation and according to CV figure we canknow the potential window of the DMF-LiClO4.Add NiCl2 or CoCl2 to the DMF-LiClO4 and wecan obain NiCl2-LiClO4-DMF and CoCl2-LiClO4-DMF, and we can make cyclic voltammetry,chronoamperometry,chronocoulometric,tafel by LK2005C electrochemical workstation, Fromthe corresponding data we can obtainα, D0, jo. According to these coefficients we can get thedifficulty level and reversibility of the electro-deposition.With Er (NO3)3-NiCl2-LiClO4-DMF, and Er (NO3)3-CoCl2-LiClO4-DMF, we can study thetwo system by cyclic voltammetry and we can get the appropriate peak potentials are induceddeposition of rare earth and iron group of the alloy films.
