The Issue of global climate change is the most uncertain challenge human being will meet in the 21st century and the large scale, the wide extent, and the deep influence are unprecedented. Nowadays, coping with climate change has become the common consensus. Climate change is not only the issue of environment, but also involved with security, diplomacy, energy, etc. How to deal with it has been the top priority of all governments in the world. China has suffered a lot because of global climate change, and meanwhile, China ranks the second largest for the emission of global greenhouse gases. Therefore, China is absolutely no exception. This essay firstly tells us that western countries release large amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere through consuming large proportion of fossil fuels due to western industrialization in the early period, which causes the problem of global climate change. In the second chapter, considering the grave situation of global climate change in China, the essay analyses its effects on China, such as sovereignty, economic development, social development, state image and state culture. In the next chapter, it tells us the measures China takes for coping with climate change. The transformation from the inadequate awareness of Chinese government and the public to the full awareness, from the passiveness to the positiveness has happened, which has displayed China's responsibility to the world. Apart from that, the essay also analyses the cause of the transformation, restricting factors, and influences of these measures. Finally, the essay tells us that the measures Chinese government should take in the future. On the one hand, while we positively participate into the world climate governance, we also try to transform the pattern of economic development. On the other hand, we should follow the trend of economic development and develop the low-carbon society.
