The network of the coordination polymers is built by the ligands with their own geometry characters and metal cation which determine to the shape of the coordination polymers together. Because of their various configution and complementarity in property, we can synthesize diverse coordination polymers with prismatic structure in different condition, especially, supramolecular isomers. So it is very significant that we choose flexible ligands in the presence of rigid ligands to design and synthesize coordination Polymers.In the work, we reported ten coordination polymers formed using flexible ligands 1,1'-(1,3-propane)bis-(2-methylbenzimidazole)(prbmbm),the second ligands (1,4-BDC,1,3-BDC,1,2-BDC, BA, NaN3 and KSCN) with transition metal cations Zn(II), Co(II), and, namely,{[Zn(prbmbm)(BA)2]-2H2O}n(1), [Zn(prbmbm)(1,4-BDC)]n(2), [Zn(prbmbm)(1,3-BDC)]n(3), [Zn(prbmbm)(1,2-BDC)]n(4), [Zn(prbmbm)(NCS)2]n(5), [Co(prbmbm)(Cl)2]n(6), [Co(prbmbm)(NCS)2]n(7), [Co2(prbmbm)2(N3)4]n(8), {[Co(prbmbm)(1,4-BDC)]n·2H2O}n(9), [Co(prbmbm)2(1,3-BDC)2](10) and [Co(prbmbm)(1,2-BDC)]n(11). The crystal structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In ten coordination polymers, complexes 1 and 8 display OD structure, and complex 1 further forms a one-dimensional (1D) chain structure by means of hydrogen bonds. Complexes 4,5,6,7,11 possess one-dimensional (1D) chain structures. Complex 6 contains double helical chain. Complexes 2,3,9,10 possess 2D polymeric structures. Compound 7 contains a dimeric unit, which is built from two zinc atoms and four 1,4-BDC ligands.The layers of 2,3,9 and 10 interlace with each other byπ…πinteractions to generate a three-dimensional supramolecular structure. Elementaryanaiyses and IR for these compounds are characterized. Thermogravimetric analyses (TGA) for 1-5,7 and 10-11 are discussed. The luminescent properties for 1-5 amd catalytic hydrolysis for 1-4 are also discussed in detail. We found that the syntheses and configutions of the coordination polymers are related to the capability of the ligand, metal cations and counter active anions in research of the before-mentioned polymers. We hope we can synthesize novel polymers with unique characters bychanging the before-mentioned factors.
