There is growing concern about metal nanoparticles because of their physical, chemical and biological properties. Preparation of nanoparticles by laser ablation is a new preparation method for the past 20 years, and gradually becoming one of the research hotspots in the world. In this thesis, properties and preparation of nanoparticles has been introduced briefly, selecting PVP solution as dispersant, reactive metal copper nanoparticles has been prepared by laser ablation, and variation of concentration, morphology, size of copper nanoparticles in different dispersant concentration and laser energy has been discussed. The theory of mie scattering and finite-difference time-domain has been elaborated. The absorbing, scattering and extinction spectrum of gold, silver and copper nanoparticles has been calculated by Mieplot and the electromagnetic amplification in surrounding field of single spherical gold, silver, copper, iron nanoparticles has been calculated by FDTD Solutions. The variations of extinction peak of gold, silver, copper nanoparticles and electromagnetic amplification of gold, silver, copper, iron nanoparticles with different radius has been analyzed.
