The ironstone prices substantially improved in international market. Making full use of domestic ironstone resources will become very important. Because of some lean and many elements of the composite ore co-existence in domestic ironstone resources, rational utilization of ironstone dressing has a very important significance. Different grade of ironstone samples analysis and research is also a critical step in ironstone beneficiation process. This article describes the application of portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometry grade beneficiation process that Fe are rapidly analyzed to provide guidance for the process control basis. In this paper, the best condition, best measurement time, sample saturated thickness, sample pressure, moisture, sample heterogeneity and other confounding factors influence the measurement results of the research, the matrix effect correction method for fine ironstone, ore and tailings in the establishment of different working patterns.The main achievements of this paper are as follows:(1) Through the analysis of the spectral lines of instrument, it is concluded that the iron to characteristic peak and the ratio of net peak area and the background are changed flowing the change of X-ray fluorescence tube voltage and pipe. From the analysis of experimental data obtains piping in 9kV ~ 21kV and pipe flow in 7μA~9μA for iron to ascertain the best inspire conditions;(2) It measured the ironstone samples by 20s, 40s, 60s, 80s, 100s, 120s, 140s, 160s, 180s ,200s, 220s, 240s, 260s, 280s, 300s, and repeated measurements measuring 10 times in each time point. According to the relative standard deviation in the different measuring time point, it is concluded that the best measure time is 200s by instrument; (3) In cases of sufficient number, it stringed the same ironstone a measured(0MP, 0.05MPa, 0.1MPa, 0.5MPa, 1MPa, 2MPa, 4MPa, 6MP ). It made the iron relationship chart of count rate and sample preparation pressure. It is concluded that analytical error from 1Mpa under pressure of the instrument of sample thickness can be ignored;(4) It was weighed 4g, 6g, 4g, 8g, 10g 12g, 14g, 16g, 18g, 20g, 10g, 22gn the same sample preparation, and made of 10 samples. By analyzing the measurement results of the diagram, identified as ironstone sample weighs 5g the sample saturated thickness;(5) For concentrate, middling and tailings separately carried on the calibration, they were compared by using simple regression method and three regressions established the work curves. It showed that the latter can make more accurate measurement results. Instrument analysis the Fe content of iron concentrate, middling and tailings sample, their average relative error are 0.24%, 0.33% and 0.13%;This study showed that portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer can realize fast, convenient and accurate measurements for ironstone process sample content. Through the experiments analysis showed that the instrument can be applied in production.
