Recent years, Because of increasingly serious problem of energy source and tail gas, automobile lightweight received more attention from worldwide. The aluminum has the characteristic of high strength and light wight. Replacing steel by aluminium can effectively reduce the weight of automobile. In this paper, study in using Nd:YAG laser and CO2 laser to weld A6111-T4 which thickness is 1.2mm and JSC270CC sheet which thickness is 0.8mm by laser lap welding. Altering laser welding speed to observe the influence of the depth of steel in aluminium alloy and the width of the weld.Observing the micro structure of the weld by optical microscope and having EDS surface energy spectrum analysis and X-ray diffraction In terms of shear strength experiment, investigating how speed influences shear strength. The result shows that there are intermetallic compound of FeAl, Fe3Al in the bottom of weld. The strength of the weld is less than the parent metal.
