The BF molten iron transportation is an important part of the iron and steel enterprise production operations. The molten iron transportation system plays a decisive role in the Blast furnace ironmaking, even in the whole plant production. Meanwhile, to a large extent, the system is under the influence of molten iron transportation railway-line layout.This article is based on the certain layout of molten iron transportation railway-line in the phase of the general layout of the iron and steel enterprise. The objective of the research is to introduce the study of the molten iron transportation system into the design phase of the railway-line. And through the analysis of the characteristics and needs of the molten iron transportation, the paper established a comprehensive evaluation index system to elect the best molten iron transportation plan to the certain railway-line layout, and it can optimize the general layout of the whole factory.This paper mainly used the research method combining qualitative analysis, quantitative calculation with graphics analysis, and mainly included the following several aspects:First, the various elements of molten iron transportation system were studied, meanwhile the BF production characteristics and the demands of the molten iron transportation were analysised; Secondly, the supply and demand relationship between the BFs and the converters in the molten iron transportation was analysised in the paper, and the organization and allocation way of locomotives and torpedo ladle cars was researched, and the outline of how to determine the path of the traffic flow was also given. Again, the comprehensive evaluation index system and the evaluation standard were established, meanwhile the railway line layout and the molten iron transportation organization were analysed and evaluated using the method which combine index evaluation with comparison of several schemes. Finally, the paper took the transportation railway line layout scheme of a certain iron and steel factory as an example, and analysed the transportation organization and evaluated the railway line layout, then offered some proposition for designers and transportion managers' reference.By the research of the molten iron transportation system and the analysis of the case, the method of introducing the study of the molten iron transportation system into the design phase turn out to be practicable and feasible. And using this method can elect the best molten iron transportation plan to the certain railway-line layout, and make the railway line layout better integration with the practice, and make the layout more convincing. Meanwhile, it also has certain directive significance to the general layout design of whole factory.
