The use of simulation methods to predict indoor air quality based on scientific basis, is a new concept of indoor environment design to target contaminant prevention and treatment evaluation. This paper uses Multi-zone network model for indoor air quality in single family houses to carry out multi-zone dynamic network simulation analysis and forecasting. First the type of building structures, building envelope leakage characteristics, natural ventilation of single family houses under thermal, wind pressure effect were studied. Then the main contaminant sources model in single family houses were summarized, furthermore in-depth analysis of IAQ impacts of some scenarios such as kitchen cooking, smoking, building decoration materials, and other contaminant sources were carried out to have some prediction results. At the same time quantitative comparing analysis of the effect of switch windows, mechanical ventilation and other pollution control measures were completed. At last preliminary occupant exposure calculations according to occupant activity patterns in the houses were finished. The efforts of this paper provides an effective simulation method for forecasting the impact of single house buildings design ,construction and decoration design on indoor air quality, it has certain value for single family houses design and construction. The main contents of the paper focuses on the following areas:(1) Systematic summary of the main contaminant sources/sinks of empirical models and mass transfer model in single family houses, summarized the latest research results at home and abroad, to establish contaminant sources characteristics database for indoor air quality modeling.(2) Detailed explanation of the Multi-zone network model of air flow and pollutant propagation theory kernel, for a single family houses of different construction types, established different models, studied their nature ventilation condition, include building envelope leakage characteristic , thermal ,wind pressure and other factors.(3) In-depth research and analysis of cooking, smoking, building decoration materials, and other major contaminate sources exist alone or together, TVOC, formaldehyde, PM2.5, CO, NO2 and other major pollutants concentration variation in single family houses. Comparing with current indoor air quality standards , indoor air quality evaluation could be conducted.(4) The situation of opening/closing doors and windows, mechanical ventilation and other pollution control methods were modeled, then provides effective pollution control measures.(5) Preliminarily calculated the occupant exposures according to occupant activity pattern, provides quantitative basis for exposure risk assessment.
