In the hot dip galvanizing process, iron devices immersed in liquid zinc are corrodedseriously. In order to find out the good corrosion-resistant performance materials, the corrosionmechanism of Fe immersed in liquid zinc was worked out.It can be known from the experiments that iron dissolved in the liquid zinc plays a leadingrole in iron - zinc corrosion process. The corrosion of Iron / liquid Zinc is a process of growthand shedding process. On one hand , the breakage, loss, and dissolution ofδphase andζphase;on the other hand, phase layer is still growing. Eventually the growth and shedding reach abalance, then the corrosion process to continue. Both the experimental and simulation resultsindicated that in the beginning of the corrosion process theζphase generates first and theformation order of each phase isζphase--Гphase--δphase.Based on the experiment, the simulation of iron/liquid zinc corrosion process was doneusing the cellular automata method. The corrosion cellular automaton model was established onthe collision rules and liquid metal corrosion theory. The simulation results are in compliancewith the existing theoretical and experimental results in terms of appearance images, variationtrend of each phase and the growth kinetics of phase layer .These results indicated that thecorrectness of the cellular automata model.
