Tellurium with a narrow band gap of 0.35 eV, is a typical p-type semiconductor which exhibits various unique physical properties including piezoelectric, photoconductive, thermoelectric, and nonlinear optical responses. It is reported that one-dimensional Te nanomaterials could be used in many devices such as gas sensors, field emission device, and photoresponsive devices. In this paper, one-dimensional Te nanorods array were successfully deposited directly on substrate through a simple chemical reduction method without the help of template. For the first time, tellurium nanostructures material grew on the substrate directly by using conventional chemical solution method. The paper included the following three parts :(1). Synthesis of tellurium nanomaterials by low temperature chemical reduction. It was found that pH ,surfactant and reaction time has an important in?uence on the morphology of the products.X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the samples were recorded on a X'Pert PRO diffraction meter .Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) measurements were performed by using FEI SIRION 200 and Oxford INCA. The morphologies of Te products were affected by pH value of reaction system greatly.(2). Because nano tellurium has many unique optical properties, we hope that Te anowires could grow on the substrate. Our experimental result showed that, Te nanowires grow on the substrate of Pt, Pd, and the FTO/Pt conductive glass into the solution, the results showed that tellurium nanorods on the Pt, Pd and FTO / Pt conductive glass arrayed well. The concentration of surfactants had great influence on the structure of deposited Te.(3). It is reported that Te nanomaterials were usually used as templates to fabricate other nanomaterials. Here, we tried the uniform tellurium nanorods array as templates to produce platinum nanorods directly on substrate. Different from the morphology of uniform tellurium nanorods array. And the magnified SEM image of the nanorods demonstrates that the surface of nanorods is very rough and actually consisted of ultra-small nanoparticles . Pt particles have excellent catalytic properties, which shows to be promising candidates as high-efficiency nanoelectrocatalysts and electrochemical analysis.
