With the development of iron and steel industry, getting more benefit from secondary production of the product has become an important economic growth point of each large-scale steel plant. Thus, every domestic steel plant has been building nationwide steel coil distribution center one after another. However, due to the need of significant number of product and varied product types, the highly flexible requirements of the distribution center for processing becoming increasingly, so that steel plants need to have the ability of rapid response to manufacture and management. The original use of management and production experience in the allocation of resources, production bottlenecks analysis and production arrangements is no longer meet the sophisticated management requirements. As an effective method, discrete event simulation technology can simulate and analysis the production line system, with this support, the Enterprise can address these changes, with less investment, short cycle, low-risk characteristics.Steel coil processing system which includes blanking, cutting and welding production lines, the existing simulation solution for the system is generally using some commercial simulation software, such as Arena. Although these powerful software, but the design is complex, expensive and the simulation results is not satisfactory when applied to specific situations, especially for the secondary development of the production line simulation. Therefore, to design and develop an easy to use, professional and efficient simulation modeling platform with independent intellectual property rights is of great significance.This thesis studies the design of simulation platform for hybrid flow shop under background of production lines in steel coil distribution Centers. Combing with the modularization programming ideas, we design a suit of simulation software by abstracting the simulation system of processing plant into an integration of transaction-flow and resource entity, entity objects are classified as active resource, passive resource and external entity, and based on active resource we propose a design pattern"event activated, activity scanning to update system". Taking shortest total process period as the target, based on the minimum switching time of the mold, priority dispatch was carried on the external entity according to the EDD (Earliest Due Day) rule. Also we take the worker's ability and levels into account, then give a resource distribution strategy, so as to achieve the goal of minimum production costs. The contrast experiment with work-field execution shows that this simulation platform can simulate kinds of production line of steel processing center with diverse scales and complexity. By analyzing the simulation data, the engineers can optimize the design of production lines, so this simulation platform can offer engineering staff satisfactory decision support.
