Ultra-precision turning processing occupied a very important position in ultra-precision processing field, as a representative in the ultra-precision processing field, the ultra precision cutting technology play an increasingly important role in the military industry and civil industrial, the main developed countries are spending a large amount of human resource and research work on the ultra-precision lathe and ultra-precision turning technology. The purpose of this thesis is establishing the control system of a small ultra-precision lathe,and researching the influence of the parameters on surface roughness,so as to realize stable and efficient ultra-precision cutting with the surface roughness under 10nm. The significance of this issue lies in that it has much reference value meaning and promotional value by researching the control system of ultra-precision lathe and making experiments on this system.First of all, the paper made a comprehensive summary on the ultra precision lathe and movement system, control system, the present study status .Secondly, based on the analysis of typical ultra-precision machine tools structural style, the thesis analysed the spindle motion system and rail motion system of ultra-precision lathe, analysed the impact of motion system structure on the control system.Thirdly, the machanical structures of ultra-precision machine tool has been built, and now build its control system. Choose Panasonic A5 series motor as the driving motor motion system and identify its specific model through analysis and theoretical calculations. Then complete the control system hardware structures. The control experiments are done on the ultra-precision machine tool. The location control method is chosen to control the guide motion system and the velocity control method is chosen to control spindle motion system. Finally, the control system of ultra-precision machine tool is built and keeps the machine tool running smoothly and precisely.In the end, the turning experiment is done in the build ultra-precision lathe and detected the surface roughness of the workpiece by AFM. Under the control system, The works which surface roughness is under Ra 7nm can be processed stably and high efficiency on the ultra-precision lathe built. Coupled with the result of experiments, the influence of spindle speed, turning speed, cutting depth and feed on the surface roughness is analysed.
