Flotation machine is one of the most important selection of fine mine devices in mineralprocessing. Using centrifugal field, etc, the separation of new type of air-breathing centrifugalfloatation separator was the most effective physics means in realizing fine-grained mineralseparation. It was mainly used in mining, coal industry, etc. The most significant characteristic is:pulp flows through the nozzle into the feeding tube. The high-speed pulp enters air-bubblegenerator, so as to form negative pressure in mixing chamber and inhale air. Fully mixed withpulp, air enters into flotation tank in tangent line to achieve sorting purpose by used centrifugalfield, etc.This article mainly aims at new type of air-breathing centrifugal floatation separator. Usingnumerical simulation method, it analysis the key components of flotation machine, the differentstructure of the flotation cell and the whole machine model, combined with industrial test anddetermines the optimal structure flotation machine. This article uses modeling software Gambitto establish the flotation machine physical model. Using computational fluid dynamics softwareSTAR-CCM+ to structure different flotation cell into the physical model grid, set boundaryconditions and get the internal flow field of 3-d numerical simulation calculation. Throughcomparative analysis of the velocity field, pressure field and steam and liquid two-phase volumecontaining rate, it helps to master the distribution of the internal flow of flotation machineI have made three different flotation cell structure of self-suction centrifugal floatationseparator, namely double into feed tube and next cylinder cone angle 90°, single row into feed tube and next cylinder cone angle 90°and single row into feed tube and next cylinder cone angle120°. Single-phase turbulent numerical simulation is for these three structures to get thedistribution of pressure and velocity. Results show that: when the structure is single row intofeed tube and next cylinder cone angle 120°, flotation cell internal pressure and velocity ofnearly wall area are biggest, this makes for flotation. After the steam and liquid two-phasenumerical simulation calculating for these three structure, it gets the identical instantaneousdistribution of pressure and velocity and volume holdup distribution of internal steam and liquidphases of flotation cell .Results show that: when the structure is single row into feed tube andnext cylinder cone angle 120°, it saves operating space, but the flow develops slowly under thesame computing time. When the structure is Single row into feed tube and Next cylinder coneangle 90°, the pressure and velocity of internal steam and liquid phases of flotation tank arebiggest and flow develops quickly under the same computing time. It is more conducive toflotation.
