This paper studies on the volatile organic compound from the wood. ChooseCunninghamia lanceolata, Cinnamomun camphora and Populus. sp as the species of research.A large amount of research is made by comparing collecting methods and adjusting testparameters, then the results are tested by HPLC and GC-FID, and the conclusions are made byfollow:(1)The inert gas processing method, which is easy to control and process but requires inertgas equipment, and the gas processing method, which costs more while it is significantlyaccurate and has none gas requirement, are both effective methods.(2)The main terpene from Chinese Fir are1S-.alpha.-Pinene, Camphene and D-limonene,and that from Camphor Wood are Ethanone,2-(formyloxy)-1-phenyl-,2-p-menthadiene,(1S)-(1)-beta-Pinene and1,8-Epoxy-p-menthane, while none terpene emission can be testedfrom Poplar Wood. What's more, three kinds of aldehydes emission can be confirmed fromChinese Fir, and also three from Camphor Wood, while none from Poplar Wood.(3)Specific surface area and temperature are the key points to the collection of volatileorganic compound from the wood. The larger specific surface area is and the highertemperature is, the more amount of VOCS can be collected and the higher peak can be showedin Chromatogram. In addition, both the stability and flow rate of gas have a great influence onthe reliability of the result.
