Hot degradation damage is easily produced in welding process of metal material, which is an important accident hidden trouble caused by the damage. In order to eliminate hidden dangers and avoid accidents, the welding points of metal materials need for early nondestructive testing and evaluation.With the rapid development of information technology and computer technology, ultrasonic echo signal analysis and processing is becoming simple, how to get accurate ultrasonic echo which can reflect object parameter is the key aspects of using ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology. The ultrasonic echo signal joint domain method in the analysis and processing is used in this paper, and compared with the traditional in the frequency domain method and time domain analysis method, and through theoretical calculation and engineering test, the joint domain method in the analysis and processing can obtain more accurate and rich ultrasonic echo parameters.In this paper, seven parts is studied in the domain of ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology in metal materials application of welding research. The first, the point research of view in the field is analyzed at home and abroad. Although ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology has been developed to a certain level, the application of metal materials to nondestructive testing (NDT) still has some problems. Later, ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology principle and basic methods are studied, which is the basis for ultrasonic nondestructive testing theoretical. The ultrasonic echo signal processing method which based on the pulse of the reflection for echo signal processing is studied, which can analyze the defects of echo signal characteristics, their impact on the test specimen by the internal structure of the change. After project of artificial preparation with different defects of ultrasonic echo characteristics, and compared theoretical calculation and the test value, using of ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology is well testing and evaluation in the field of welding metal materials.
