Similar simulation has been used widely in modern science and technology fields as a research method. First according to similarity theory to scale down the size of the rocks which to be studied,second model it with similar material and then mining In the model coal to mineral simulate the actual situation , then observations the movement.Deformation and failure mode which cause by mine of the Model rock and surface, finally find mining affected areas, analysis and forecasting that what happened to the actual formation , From the above was the essence of research on the strata movement which use similar material simulation method.The papers introduce the current level of similar simulation technology and combine with the coal characteristics of Pingzhuang Western Open pit mine, and accordance with similarity theory ,the similarity, histogram,coal and rock mechanical properties, then using simulation experiment with similar material, and similar materials similar to the model and field in the laboratory. In the process of model exploitation, and then observation movement of overlying strata which cause by mine Continuous. Summary the experimental results of the experimentation.
