Composite film of polyaniline (PANI) and titanium oxides (TiOx), PANI/TiOx was obtained electrochemically by cyclic voltrammetric (CV) scans in a solution of 0.5 mol·L-1 containing 0.1 mol·L-1 aniline. The composite film displayed redox pairs of PANI and TiOx in 0.5 mol·L-1 H2SO4 solution on the cyclic voltramogram. Characteristic diffractions of TiO2 and Ti5O9 were detected on X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of both the composite and similarly electrodeposited titanium oxides TiOxE. Characteristic vibrations of PANI appeared on the FT-IR spectrum of PANI/TiOx composite film.Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (18-nm diameter) were synthesized from tetrabutyl titanate. Composite of PANI and titanium dioxide nanoparticles, PANI/nano-TiO2 was prepared by polymerization of aniline in the presence of TiO2 nanoparticles at room temperature. Gas sensor was fabricated through drop-coating the reaction mixture on the gap of the carbon branches of a screen-printed electrode. Characteristic diffractions of anatase was dectected on XRD patterns of PANI/nano-TiO2 composite. Characteristic vibrations of PANI appeared on FT-IR spectrum of PANI/nano-TiO2 composite. The PANI/nano-TiO2 sensor showed good response to methanol, ethanol, isooctanol, toluene and triethylamine respectively. The electric resistance of the sensor was linearly decreased to the concentration of triethylamine from 0.9 to 13.5 ppm, (y= 0.0704 x+ 0.9663, R2= 0.9974).
