The work presented in this paper focuses on several aspects as the principle of low-pressure methanol synthesis and the process flow of union-methanol and single-methanol at low pressure. It also aims at the methanol synthesis reactors which widely used at home and abroad, and the history and orientation of development for the research of catalysts applied for methanol synthesis. Meanwhile, it introduces the process of 200 kt/a methanol synthesis plant using coal, and the physical and chemical properties, qualities, as well as loading and reduction of C307 catalyst. The effects of operation conditions including temperature, pressure, space velocity, ratio of H/C, and content of CO2 and methanol in the inflow on methanol synthesis are discussed.The adiabatic-tube combined methanol synthesis reactor was applied for methanol plant with the production capacity of 200 kt/a. The weight of 63.5 t of C307 catalyst was loaded, the output of 818 kt of crude methanol (761 kt of refined methanol) was made in the period of 53 months, which indicated an average daily production of 549 tons of crude methanol. The daily production of crude methanol reached 672 tons. The methanol productivity reached 18 kt per unit volume of catalysts (m3). Industrial application result shows that temperature of this type of reactor is stable and easy to control, and fewer impurities were found in the crude methanol products.
