Isopropyl-phenol is the important of chemical intermediate in Chemical Production. p-isopropylphenol (p-IPP) has been used as machinery cleaner, cable package coatings, synthetic resin, interfacial agent, medicine intermediate and so on; O-isopropyl phenol(o-IPP) is usually used for intermediate of pesticide, its nitration product is a good herbicide. At present, alkyl-phenols which is prepared by alkylation of phenol with olefins, alcohols or chlorinated hydrocarbons as Al(OC6H5)3 catalyst is mainly produced by batch autoclave reactor, however this process This process has many shortcomings restrict the production of Isopropylphenol, for example, low yield, erosion, pollution, separation difficulty, and high cost production. Consequently, it is attracted great importance that develops new environmentally friendly catalyst, for the purpose of changing isopropyl-phenol in short supply and the status of backward technology. In recent years, zeolite catalyst has been applied for more alkylation, low reaction temperature, less by-products,low pollution,Catalytic efficiency and Easy catalyst regeneration are characteristics of zeolites, zeolite catalysts was concerned about these characteristics. In this paper, solid- phase is used to alkylation of phenol with isopropanol that MCM-56 and MCM-36 molecular sieve are used for a catalyst, catalytic have been studied in the reaction by various characterization, the main experimental results and conclusions are list below:1. HMCM-56 Molecular Sieves is studied though alkylation of phenol with isopropyl alcohol, low temperature is conducive to the formation of o-IPP, high temperature is conducive to the formation of p-IPP, optimal reaction conditions: T=220℃,WHSV = 3.0 h-1,Catalyst Loading = 0.3g ,nIPA/nPhenol = 0.8, Phenol conversion rate of 70%,the selectivity of O-isopropyl phenol and p- isopropyl phenol was 34.48%,30.99%. HMCM-56 molecular sieves is modified by phosphotungstic acid, crystalline phase is remained intactly, phenol alkylation is occurredunder the optimal reaction conditions, phosphotungstic acid modification of HMCM-56 molecular sieves is conducive to the formation of o-IPP.2.The HMCM-36 molecular sieve catalyst is affected by the reaction conditions under alkylation of phenol with isopropyl alcohol, the optimum reaction conditions are obtained: T=280℃,WHSV = 3 h-1,Catalyst Loading = 0.3g ,nIPA/nPhenol = 0.6, the conversion of phenol is around 39.4%under optimal conditions, total selectivities of o-isopropylphenol and p-isopropylphenol are 84.8%...
